Manchester Digital Tech Leader Talks

Manchester Digital's Tech Leader Talks offers the opportunity for senior leaders in large-scale digital and tech businesses here in the North West to come together with other C-Level individuals to network, share best practices and make new connections.

This event will be in the format of a lunchtime networking session followed by a Q & A. The morning will include a light lunch for all attendees, refreshments and an Industry Insight session.

Adam Purslow, CEO at TLC

Adam has lived and breathed the hospitality sector for the last 23 years. His background is not only technology focussed, but he has managed a number of venues across the premium casual market.

When loyalty was but a pipe dream for most, Adam looked to create something revolutionary in the sector and began creating Club Individual for Individual Restaurants. It’s evolved dramatically over the last 10 years and boasts close to 2m members. This was the driver behind the decision to create TheLoyaltyCo to allow this wealth of knowledge to benefit both other industries and other hospitality driven outlets.

Adam is seen as an industry expert with expertise covering IT, systems, development and SQL with loyalty, technology, marketing e-commerce, CRM and deliverability being only some of his areas of expertise.


James Pimlott, Senior Principal at Slalom

James is an experienced data professional who leads Slalom’s Data Protection team in Manchester. He has 10 years of experience supporting clients with their privacy, governance, ethics and AI challenges, applying his SME knowledge across a range of industries and geographies, innovating technology solutions to enable his clients to realise the value of their data in a compliant manner.


Rebecca Fox, Group CIO at NCC 

Rebecca is Group CIO responsible for technology, data and digital strategy and delivery in NCC Group.

Rebecca has over 15 years of leading technology functions but also has led sales and commercial teams and had a successful interim career, she is also the founder of a technology consultancy business.

During her career, Rebecca has led digital transformation, system implementations, organisation design, complex and diverse technical and development teams on a global scale. Rebecca comes from a technical development background, but her experiences include large-scale project/programme/portfolio management, data management and strategy, and service operations.


Gavin Zephir, Technology Evaluations Research Lead at Barclays

Gavin has over 20 years’ experience of working in technology and is currently the Technology Evaluations Research Lead, responsible conducting detailed unbiased technology market research to uncover the leaders and disruptors for a technology area, and highlighting expert recommendations to feed into strategy development. He has worked at Barclays for over 15 years having initially started as a Test Manager working on projects such as testing the introduction of contactless payments for debit cards. He spent several years working in the technology office as a project manager as well as spending time as the statement product owner where he was responsible for the introduction of the Central Statement Engine which saw the in-housing of the statement production process from an external supplier to Barclays. He has also worked extensively on the Barclays App as a delivery lead responsible for the delivery of multiple features in the app across multiple feature teams, including the introduction of the Amazon Instalment accounts to the app. Prior to Barclays he worked as a test manager for a Morgan Stanley Mortgage Company and spent a number of years working as a consultant for Accenture. He has a Computer Science degree from the University of Durham.


Mark Harrison, Senior Director of Engineering at Disney Streaming

Mark has worked in technology for over 20 years. He currently leads Disney's Manchester office, delivering software that powers their global streaming services. 

Mark is passionate about building, optimising, and leading high performing engineering teams both here in Manchester and globally, with experience in consultancy and product focused organisations. 

Prior to his role at Disney, Mark was the Head of Engineering at Cake Solutions, where he played a key role in the company's expansion into the US market. He has extensive experience in delivering scalable, distributed systems and has worked across various industries, from price comparison to airport systems and, of course, media streaming.
